DIY Jack Daniels Soap Canister

My brother birthday is approaching and i was looking for some things i could make for him, since i am on a starving student budget. I came across this idea on pintrest and i thought it was absolutely genius.

( and better yet i got some free booze for myself out of the deal)

Most soap canister lids will fit on liquor bottles!

so once you have some empty liquor bottles hanging around just fill them up with the appropriate colored soup, and you have yourself the coolest soap canister around!

DIY Stencils

here is another amazing DIY idea i have came across that allows you to make your own stencils from a hot glue gun. all you need is some wax paper, a glue gun and your artistic touch. 

simply draw out your designs with your glue gun onto the wax paper and allow to dry!

for those of you who are not good a free-hand drawing or want a more detailed stencil, just print out the design on the wax paper and follow the design with the glue. 

once it is cooled, remove the glue from the paper, i may not come of that clean so just soak and water and the paper will come off easier. 

Now that you have you stencil the possibilities are endless!!

Make your own Chalkboard paint in any colour!

 So lately i have been painting everything with chalkboard paint, from walls to mugs and glassed and even tables. Its been keeping organized with having reminders everywhere and being able to label and relabel everything ..except its all black! but i have now found away to not only make my own paint. which is soo much cheaper i can also make it in any color!!

Below i have step by step instructions to get you started on doing this yourself!

Mix the above ingredients into a container,

be sure to mix well!

  

Once you have it mixed together you are ready to paint! you can paint literally anything!

Make sure you let it dry fully then you must cover the surface with a light layer of chalk. you can do this by sliding the piece of chalk over the board using the side. Then wipe off the chalk and your done!

Cinnamon Stick Candle

DIY Clementine Candle

 

This candle is so simple to make!

all you need:

-cinnonmon sticks

-glue gun

-hemp

-Candle 

(cheap trick; check a thrift shop for old candles)

 

I got my white candle from Walmart same as the hemo and the cinnonmon sticks from the bulk barn. I broke my sticks in half, but you could keep them long if you would like. Just simply glue on each stick and then wrap around the hemp and make a pretty bow!

 

Once the candle heats up it make the cinamon smell amazing!

VHS Covers into photo frames

What to do with all those VHS tapes?
Turn them into classy looking photo frames that contain hidden storage!!!

You can store old photos, keys, mail, concert tickets, keep sakes the list goes on! Such an amazing idea how have i not thought of this??

Not only is this a mind blowing idea it is as easy as hanging up any other picture frame if not easyier!

Just remove the previous paper inside the cover and replace with your own photo, then hang it on the wall, genious!

Make your own Dip Dye T-shirts

Lately i have been loving all the ombre looks around from clothes, nails and hair. I have been wanting to grab my self a tee-shirt or tang top with the ombre dipped dyed look but when i went to go get one my DIY light in my head came on and i though i would look to for some directions from a fellow DIY'er. And just to my luck i came across the Wit & Whistle blog. Below is a picture of one shirt from the store and the other done by herself, pretty close eh?

Supplies:

fabric dye (we used Dylon’s Olive Green)
salt (if your dye calls for it on the back) 
a t-shirt (ours was a cotton/polyester blend)
stainless steel kitchen sink
warm water

If you have tie dyed clothes before then this should be quite easy for you, it is very similar. but if you haven't, don't worry its a lot easier then you would think. so once you have gathered up the supplies, follow these instructions below;

1. Plug the (clean) stainless steel kitchen sink, and fill it with 3″–4″ of warm water. Stir in some dye. We stirred in about 1/3 of the package, but use more if you want your shirt to be darker. We also stirred in about 2 tablespoons of salt, since the Dylon dye instructions call for salt.
2. Soak your t-shirt through with clean warm water and ring it out a bit.
3. Hold your t-shirt by the shoulders and carefully lower it into the dye until the color goes up as high as you’d like (we aimed for the bottom of the armpits). Do not let the shirt linger in the dye, lift it right out. You don’t want a lot of dye to soak into the fabric on this dip, because this will create the lightest band of color at the top of the gradient.
4. To dye the middle medium shade of the ombré gradient, dip your shirt back in and make sure to keep the top third of the already colored section out of the dye. This time hold the shirt in the dye for 10–20 seconds to allow more color to soak in. Slightly swish the shirt back and forth while in the dye to make sure you end up with a smooth gradient instead of a sharp line where the darker shade begins. You can pull it out to check how dark the dye is, and leave it in longer if the color isn’t dark enough for you. Lift the shirt out when you are satisfied with the color.
5. Before dying the darkest part of the gradient, add a few more tablespoons of dye to the sink to make the color darker. Then dip only the bottom third of the colored section of shirt into the sink. Remember to swish the shirt a little like in step four. We held the bottom of the shirt in the dye for about a minute or so, but you can keep checking it and remove the t-shirt when the color is as dark as you want.
6. After dying, let the t-shirt sit overnight to allow the color to sink in. (We covered the kitchen counter with a trash bag and spread the t-shirt out there.) The next day wash the t-shirt in hot water with just a little bit of laundry detergent.
7. Wear your totally awesome dip-dyed shirt.

Turn your old eyeshadow in to nail polish!

If your anything like me the bottom of your make-bag consists of broken eyeshadow powder and is making everything a mess. I have recently discovered a way to get rid of those loose powders that u can't use as shadow anymore. Without just throwing it out.
